Wyoming day 3 - final

Today was my last day in Jackson Hole.  I started with a little brunch at Lotus Cafe before driving out to Jenny Lake at Grand Teton National Park. I spent about an hour there.  It was great.

Afterwards I headed back to my hotel to rest up a bit (I was exhausted after this morning's race) before dinner at Bubba's BBQ.  When I say it may be the best BBQ I've ever had I'm not exaggerating. It was that good.  I'm only bummed I didn't discover it sooner.

After dinner I walked to the Contour Music Festival taking place this weekend here in Jackson Hole.  All runners who ran the half marathon were given free entry.  Normally, it's an $80 ticket.  I scored big time.  I hung out there for a while before heading back to the hotel.

It's back to DC tomorrow.  I'm off for a month before flying out to Denver for my next race.

More pics to come then ...

Wyoming day 3 - race day (part 1)

Another gorgeous day in Jackson Hole for a half marathon.  Start time was at 8 am and the sun was out with sweeping views of the mountains as our backdrop.  We started off at Teton Village and finished downtown Jackson Hole.

It was a flat course which certainly made me happy.  In the end I finished in 1:47. Not my best time but I'm OK with it.

I'm going to spend the rest of the day in Teton seeing Laurance Rockefeller Preserve, Jenny Lake, and Signal Mountain.  Afterwards all runners have free passes to this outdoor concert which I'll check out before dinner at Bubba's BBQ.  I'm not sure what I like more about dinner .. the upcoming BBQ which I hear is great or the fact it's named "Bubba's."

I'll have one more post today with pictures from Teton and then it's back to DC tomorrow.

Up next:  Denver, Colorado

Wyoming day 2 - Yellowstone National Park

I could have spent an entire week in Yellowstone.  It was a perfect day to take the drive from Jackson Hole to the park, stopping along the way en route to Old Faithful.  The day provided mid 70s with sunny skies.

Along the way there were tons of picturesque views of mountains, lakes, and waterfalls.  I'll let my pictures do most of the talking.

The road trip ended at Old Faithful when after seeing her performance I began the trip back to Jackson Hole to pick up my race bib for tomorrow.  It's an 8 am start time that will take runners along Grand Teton providing some pretty awesome views.

Afterwards I'll be heading back to Teton to see the Laurance Rockefeller Preserve, Jenny Lake,  and the top of Signal Mountain.

Race day pics tomorrow along with plenty from Grand Teton. Stay tuned ...
Made it!

Wyoming day 1

It was a great first day in Jackson Hole.  I was concerned we may be getting rain but it was sunny skies and mid 70s all day.  Perfect.

I started off with breakfast outdoors at Persephone before taking a walking tour of most of Jackson Hole. Afterwards I took the 12 mile drive out to Teton Village to take the aerial tram up Rendevous Mountain to see the top of Teton.  It was a fun ride that offered great views of the mountains.

I spent about an hour at the top taking photos (a lot as you'll see) before heading back down to grab lunch.

Tomorrow I'll be spending the entire day in Yellowstone so plenty more pics to come.  Stay tuned ...

Home for the next few days
