Nebraska race day

It was a great race day today in Omaha.  We had cool morning temps, a relatively flat course, and great crowds.  The ending of the race came as a surprise to me (I didn't research this course map much) as we ended up turning into Ameritrade Park Stadium for the final loop before crossing the finish line.  That was pretty cool.

I ended up crossing the finish line in 1:45:13 (unofficial time).  I was pushing for a 1:40 finish but it's OK as it'll just leave me to train harder for my next race (Iowa next month).

This was a fun weekend in Nebraska.  It puts me at 37 completed half marathons/states with three left for 2014.

So stay tuned ...

Nebraska day 2

I spent day 2 in Omaha at the Henry Doorly Zoo and let me say it was pretty awesome.  I've been to a number of zoos but nothing really compares.  It was great.  I'll let the pics speak for themselves.

In addition I picked up my race packet for tomorrow so I'm all set.  More pics to come!

Nebraska day 1

Today was day one in Omaha and it included some pretty nice weather for exploring the city.  I took a walk downtown to the Old Market District before heading over to the Heartland of America Park and Fountain.  Afterwards I went over to the Lewis & Clark Landing and Riverfront Park before walking over the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.

I ended the day at the Upstream Brewery Company sampling some local beers and having an Omaha steak for dinner.  It was pretty damn good.

Tomorrow I'll pick up my running packet before taking in some more sites.  More pics to come.
